November 30th, 2009Why I Came To Thailand

I first came to Thailand in 2004 and I came here more of less by accident. I had travelled a fair bit in Europe: Russia, Western Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa and north South America, but I had never found the time to travel to Asia.

One night, I was chatting to a friend who had travelled extensively throughout the world and he was telling me about his favourite country, to where he had been returning year after year for fourteen years. Knowing the man’s experience as a traveller, I was very taken aback to hear that he had been choosing to go to the same place in Asia for fourteen years.

I had to ask him which part of huge Asia held such an enticement for him and he said Thailand. I knew practically nothing about Thailand, except that I had had a few meals at a near-by Thai restaurant over the years. I also knew from collecting stamps as a boy that it used to be called Siam. Anyway, my friend asked me if I’d like to go. I said that I would ‘one day’ and meant it.

He surprised me by saying that he was going for a month soon and that I was welcome to go with him. I replied that I had a couple of jazz festivals to go to soon and maybe I would, if there was at least a month between them and if I could get a flight and if… I could hear myself putting him off, but I did not understand why.

A number of hours later, I went home and being a keen Internet surfer, I checked out a bit about Thailand on the travel brochure sites. It looked truly fantastic. The prices were good too except for the flights. Hotels were cheap to reasonable and food and drinks prices were insignificant compared to where I lived. So, I checked the dates of the two Jazz festivals and they were thirty-three days apart. Now for the flight. I spent well into the next morning checking flights and discovered one for the day after the first festival leaving from our local airport. It was not the cheapest flight, but it gave me more time.

In a reckless moment I booked it there and then online. I then found a pub with rooms to let online that my friend had said he went to on quiz evenings and guessed that they would be open by now serving breakfasts. I sent them an email and a response came back twenty minutes later. I had been lucky again. The boss was in the middle of checking yesterday’s figures, when he saw my email come through. However, not sure of his Internet ability, he wanted me to phone him right away. I checked my watch, it was still 4AM so I phoned.

He took my booking on trust and so I did not have to make a payment. I had heard about Thailand, made up my mind to go and booked the flight and room all within five hours and I could not wait for nine o’clock to come to inform my friend that I would be going too.

November 30th, 2009Cool Dog Names

Fashion appears to dictate everything these days. From what you wear to what you name your dog, everything you do is dictated by the need to be fashionable. Cool dog names are hard to come by and even harder to choose. This is because no sooner is something in fashion, than it is out again.

Who would want to choose a cute dog name that may not be fashionable tomorrow? So, people usually play it safe, which is why the same names have been so popular for so long. To try and break that cycle, five cool dog names are given below with our reasons why you should choose one of them for your dog.

Phoenix: What could be cooler than a bird that goes up in flames and then rises from the ashes? Phoenix is one of the cool dog names that will never go out of fashion because it is based in history. It has a timeless quality which has somewhat surprisingly failed to increase its popularity.

Star: Star is one of the cool dog names because it has so many meanings that you can have a hard time finding out where to start. A star in the sky is a phenomenon and a star can refer to someone that outperforms in a particular field. It is indeed a high form of praise and therefore is definitely a cute dog name.

Lady: Lady is one of the most popular dog names but it is also one of the cute dog names because of the Disney cartoon film, Lady and the Tramp, which was a massive hit. The film made the name popular but also gave it some credibility. In this case, popularity comes second to coolness.

Elvis: The coolest of cool dog names. Elvis Presley was undoubtedly cool and remains cool today even after his death. It is immeasurably cool to name your dog after such a tremendous icon who has never gone out of fashion himself.

Shadow: There is a dark and mysterious quality about Shadow that makes it a cute dog name. It would be best used on a big breed of dog however, because it wouldn’t have the same striking effect with a small one.

Whatever cute dog names you consider for your pooch, it is one sure-fire way to give them an identity of their own and make them memorable in the eyes of others. .

There is one hard and fast rule in generating income for your web site: a perpetual stream of website traffic. If no one goes to your site, it barely has a chance of generating an income. Many sites have tried and failed in doing so, and this results to the web site’s demise. It requires cash to maintain an income-generating site; it also takes money to make money.

BUT, it doesn’t take a whole shed-load of cash to create website traffic for your web site.

Have you ever wondered how big hit sites drive visitors to their website? Most of them spend tons of money to guide traffic to their websites, investing in many marketing tactics and other kinds of advertising schemes and trickery.

You don’t need to do this if you don’t have their resources. There are a lot of other methods to create low cost website traffic without having to spend what you don’t have or can’t afford. Many people have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it.

Here I want to show you to you the top five ways to create low cost website visitors that can help your web site a whole lot. Even if you only turn a small percentage of visitors into clients, it still works, especially if you get a large number of website traffic.

1] Exchange Links

This is a guaranteed and established way. Rarely would you see a website where there is no link to another site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they can create more public awareness of their sites. You’ll soon notice and feel the sudden increase of visitors coming to your site from other websites.

A major condition in exchanging links with other websites is having the same niche or subject matter as the other web site. They should share a common subject matter so that there is continuity in the provision of service and information that interests your target traffic.

Exchanging links also boosts your chances of getting a higher ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines rank sites high that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will create more traffic to your website without exhorbitant costs.

2] Traffic Exchanges

This is like exchanging links but on a different level. This will take a lot more work than exchanging or trading links but can be cheaper because you earn credits.

People look at someone else’s website, in exchange for someone viewing yours. You both benefit from each others efforts to generate visitors. The other site’s visitors can go to your pages and know more about your website as well as their own. Once again public awareness of your site’s existence is boosted.

3] Write and Submit Articles

There are lots of e-zines and online encyclopedias on the Internet which provide free space for articles to be submitted. If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself. However, there are many freelance writers who are eager to write for you for a small payment, but to save money, it is better to write the articles yourself.

Write articles that are themed with the niche of your website. Write something that you have knowledge on so that when people read it, they can sense your knowledge on the topic and will be excited to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the theme or niche your site relates to.

Include a resource box at the end of your article that links back to your website. Write a little about yourself and your web site. If you provide an information-laden and interesting article, they will go to your website for more.

4] Provide a Newsletter.

This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you will need to write to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and websites that are eager to provide free articles as long as they can get their name in your newsletter, because this will also provide free promotion for them as well.

As your newsletter gets passed around, you can broaden your public awareness and build an opt-in list that will regularly visit your site.

5] Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your skill and proficiency with many online communities. You get free marketing when you go to forums that have the identical subject or niche with your site.

With the attempt to go green and assure a fighting possibility against the shocking effects of global warming, some real estate investors have gotten into the industry of selling eco-friendly materials. But as usual with business, there are some out there whose sole purpose is to earn money. So you as the customer on the other end has to exercise additional caution.

First factor you need to do is to search for a bit of data regarding the materials. Get to know about what you are buying for beforehand and do the actual purchasing. Assess the strength of the said materials and establish whether they are engineered to endure the forces as green supplies are usually built to last.

Ensure that the supplies are also safe to use. They should not just be friendly to the earth but to you also and anything under that is measured inappropriate.

It would be wise to additionally think about how genuine the supplies are. Usually, there has to be some signs of quality that will ensure total functionality and protection of the materials. Getting another opinion from a professional or from someone that has utilized them in the past is usually suggested because it places you in a better position of making a better decision.

The list of ecological materials is not very long, and armed with the proper type of information you may be able to compare the good from the bad.

A number of the widely used materials include solar panels, recycled tiles, bamboo for alternative insulation, hardwoods for flooring and many more. Its better if you can get your hands on a handbook on how to put the ecological materials into function as in many situations, it is easier said than done. Playing your role in protecting the environment may not appear very huge a deal in the initial phases, but it does pay off in the long run.

November 29th, 2009Choose Golf Shoes Wisely

Your swing may change with time, your accuracy and distance will improve with practice and strength, and you will become deadly accurate with a putter in time, but you will always do these things while standing on your own two feet and they can get tired.

So, your feet need to be comfortable! Have you ever developed a blister while walking or running? It’s all you can think about and it ruins the experience of what you are doing. Don’t let uncomfortable shoes ruin your game of golf.

This is one area where you shouldn’t let your desire to save money make the decision for you. You will be wearing these shoes many times over a long time and they should be considered a good investment in your game of golf.

Comfortability, not expense, should be your main concern when you are purchasing any shoes, not only golf shoes. Your foot should not move at all at the heel when you walk, but your toes shouldn’t feel at all constrained. Be sure to have your shoes fitted professionally and walk around in them before you actually buy them.

Serious golf shoes should be waterproof so that your feet remain dry in damp conditions. Good socks are important too; they will wick perspiration away from you feet, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.

All golf courses forbid the use of metal spikes on golf shoes in an effort to protect their vulnerable greens. Purchase shoes that allow you to change the rubber spikes easily, and while you’re doing that, buy a few extra spikes as you never know when you might lose one. You should also replace the spikes when they become worn.

You have many things to worry about while playing golf, but your feet shouldn’t be one of them. When it comes to golf shoes, quality counts.

These are some of my favorite sights and sounds in Arlington.
1. Dallas Cowboys stadium is extremely impressive, it seats 80,000 comfortably and can be increased to 110,000 people. The stadium is fully enclosed with a retractile roof and can be used for many different venues. You can get a tour of the stadium which takes about an hour and well worth it!

2. There is Six Flags over Texas which is fun for the entire family! If you haven’t ever been before to a Six Flags then this is the time to go and try one out! With tons of exhilarating rides for adults and kids your sure to have a great day!

3. The Country Peddler Show comes to Arlington Convention Center in March, August and November every year. People from all around converge to sell just about anything you can imagine. The hair salon offers expert stylists with training in hair color, unique and traditional hair styling techniques, and makeup advice. The caf employs a personal chef who prepares each menu item fresh daily.

5. Alley Cats a great place to take the family! You’ll find 24 lanes of bowling, a rock climbing wall, laser tag, billiards and a video game room with over 100 games! Our nephew has his birthday party there and everyone had a blast, but this place isn’t only for kids. They also offer special pricing for corporate events and have a full catered menu and full bar. I really like the place because it’s smoke free so you don’t have to stand around inhaling second hand smoke!

Arlington Texas has something for everyone! So come and enjoy yourself.

If you’re planning on a stay in Arlington then why not save yourself some money and time buy going to Arlington Cheap Hotels. There’s no point in spending more money than necessary that’s the great thing about Arlington Hotels!

Acquiring a house especially a big one, is by no degree a small deal as there are various factors to consider. It takes a long list for all to be taken up here, but there are major points that you should not overlook.

The premise is that not everyone can afford to invest on a property, and for those with resources, they must take note of the following factors.

First is the location of the property. There are so many neighborhoods that can fall into the criteria that you are looking for, and you need to screen out those you like best. Your work place matters and you must note that when scouting for your house for proximity and convenience.

You need to know that the good kind of neighbourhoods that are usually listed come with a high price so you must adjust your budget if you are sure that the neighborhood or suburbia where you relocate is top of its class. If it is in the growing period and has the potential to turn into a popular place in the near future, you might qualify for a bargain still, but that all relies on the expertise of your real estate agent and how good his negotiation skills are.

Speed is important when buying a house. That is because if you fail to act, you leave the house with a thousand possibilities of being bought by someone else. This is where instinct is allowed to play its full course. That is if you have a really good feeling about a house, it could be a good decision to just get it immediately so that if you don’t like it, you can always resell, usually at a better deal.

November 28th, 2009Dana White And The UFC

Ultimate Fighting Championship or more commonly known as UFC is fast becoming one of the most recognized sports in the world. They show live shows in over 50 countries ranging from the U.S to Australia. The sport is taking off in such a way no one would have expected. It’s amazing to look back just a few years ago to when the UFC was barely known.

So how did this transformation take place? It seems quite impossible! It mostly took off due to Dana White and the majority owners Fertitta brothers backing. Dana White has turned out to be the Messiah of MMA he has almost single handedly made MMA as popular as it is today. Did you know that Dana was born in Manchester, Connecticut? White grew up in Las Vegas, Boston and Levant, Maine. White is a fierce Boston Red Sox fan. During his youth, he bounced back and forth between Las Vegas and Maine. He attended college in Boston for two years but did not finish; however, while there he did launch a boxing program for inner-city children.

White has a background as an aerobics instructor. In’92, White established Dana White Enterprises in Las Vegas. He conducted aerobics classes at three gyms in the Las Vegas area and began managing MMA fighters Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell.

While working as a manager, White learned that Semaphore Entertainment Group, the parent company of the UFC, was looking for a buyer for the UFC. White contacted childhood friend Lorenzo Fertitta, an executive at Station Casinos, and a former commissioner of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Within a month, Lorenzo and his older brother Frank bought the UFC, with White installed as its president. White currently owns 10% of Zuffa, LLC, the entity the Fertitta brothers created to own and manage the UFC.

One of the best things Dana has done for the UFC is produce the show “TUF” (The Ultimate Fighter) on Spike TV. This show has taken off in a big way! It’s also helped a lot of people understand the sport more. From what fighters go through training wise to see that they’re actually very normal well educated people, not just barbarians as a lot of people thought.

The UFC continues to grow at an alarming rate and with no end in sight, I see this sport being in the top 3 favorites of the American people within 5 years.

Depression and anxiety are said to be the causes of uncontrollable anger. When a person is constantly worried about things they have no control over or even things that they do have control over, it often causes severe depression. If you have the feeling, there is no way out then your depression can affect your life and cause you to sink into a wave of despair.

Taking the reins of your emotions usually produces good results. If you feel that the world is tumbling down around you, then you are probably thinking in a negative mode, which brings on depression and anxiety. In this short article, we will discuss some techniques to enable you to cope with anxiety and depression, thus relieving uncontrollable anger.

First of all, let us take a look at the symptoms. Do you feel like you are going out of your head? Do you shout in your head: ‘I cannot take it any more?’. Do you feel like someone is out to get you? Do you think people consider you crazy? If you are suffering from any or all of these symptoms or thoughts then you are probably suffering from anxiety and depression.

If you can not find a way to think in a different mode, then you will probably explode when your emotions start to soar and your anger bursts forth. Instead of telling yourself that you are going mad, why not tell yourself that you are only having a temporary emotional problem and that you need to solve the problem. Review all the problem areas carefully and search your memory to see if there are answers to your problems there. Reviewing like this, often opens doors to resources you may have overlooked.

If you feel like someone is out to get you then you might have a chemical imbalance or a mental illness. Why not go to see your doctor or a mental health expert to learn more about the symptoms and find a way to regain control of your life. Anxiety and depression can play tricks with your mind but sometimes the thoughts are simply the result of a chemical imbalance.

If you believe that people think you are crazy you might want to remember that most people have their own problems and have no time to analyze you as a person or your life. When you walk into a room and think that people are staring at you, you might want to remember that people watch things around them, making sure everything is OK and then return to their own goings-on.

If you feel like you just cannot take it any more, just bite your lip and walk another mile. When times are difficult, it does not mean it is the end of the world, although sometimes it may seem this way. If you are struggling to pay bills, fighting to hold a family together, or having difficulty with your children then remember that we all have these problems at some time or another in our lives.

Are your children driving you out of your mind? If they are, take time out. Go and do something entertaining or some exercise. This very often relieves the stresses that lead to anxiety, depression and anger. Life is just too short to worry about the things in life that you do not have control over. If you have problems, the answers lie within you, so it pays to look into your head.

If you are struggling to reach your goals then you might want to break your goals down into smaller sections and work slowly to achieve them. If you set goals that are within reason, you will not need to stress your mind finding a way to achieve your target.

It is important to pamper yourself each day. Learn some coping techniques that will benefit both your mind and your body. If you feel snowed under, you might want to take deep breaths ten times.

Stretching out on a sofa to watch your favourite movie can benefit your mind and body, if you want to de-stress yourself. Learn to concentrate on what you are doing instead of worrying about what you are not doing. This often clears the mind and allows you to relax.

If you are subject to sustained anger, you will most probably have problems for the rest of your life unless you learn to take control of your emotions. Remember that depression leads to uncontrollable anger.

November 27th, 2009Home Movie Theater Screens

When it comes to choosing a screen, the first consideration is the type of screen you want or even need. If the room where you are setting up your home theater is large, then you will have to have a home theater projection screen or maybe you just want one anyway.

I, personally, like the idea of having a drop-down screen, but sometimes you have to have one even in a modestly-sized home movie theater. It would convert your living room into a home movie theater. Imagine: you recline in your chair; click the remote and a screen drops down; click another remote and the lights dim; click another one and the film commences!

If you prefer a television screen, then you might be considering purchasing a new one if you can afford it. They say that a 27 inch screen is big enough, but I do not think that it is. In my opinion, you really need 48-60 inches, but then I am a baby-boomer and my eyes are definitely not what they used to be.

If you are buying a new TV for your home theater, I think you should aim high. HDTV is upon us and since February 2009 the USA is committed to High Definition. So, I would make sure that your new TV is capable of receiving it. Then I suggest that the new home theater screen be a flat one to reduce the annoying glare that could ruin the experience. (This could be another reason for opting for a projection screen).

Finally, you should ensure that your new television has enough input and output plugs for the peripheral equipment you have in mind and you’re done. Therefore, to summarize, I recommend you go for:

More than a 27 inch screen

A flat screen

HDTV compliant

Enough input and output plugs and sockets

Satellite compliant

I recommend satellite compatibility because it is probably the future or near future at least. If you get a satellite TV connection you will have access to HDTV downloads which you can watch whenever you like.
