I first came to Thailand in 2004 and I came here more of less by accident. I had travelled a lot in Europe: Russia, Western Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa and north South America, but I had never got around to travelling to Asia.

One night, I was chatting to a friend who had travelled extensively throughout the world and he was telling me about his favourite country, to where he had been returning year after year for fourteen years. Knowing my friend’s experience as a traveller, I was very surprised to hear that he had been choosing to go to the same spot in Asia for fourteen years.

I had to ask him which part of huge Asia held such an enticement for him and he said Thailand. I knew next to nothing about Thailand, except that I had had a few meals at a near-by Thai restaurant over the years. I also knew from collecting stamps as a boy that it used to be called Siam. Anyway, my friend asked me if I’d like to go. I answered that I would ‘one day’ and meant it.

He startled me by stating that he was going to Thailand for a month soon and that I was welcome to go with him, if I wanted. I answered that I had a couple of jazz festivals to go to soon and maybe I would, if there was at least a month between them and if I could get a flight and if… I could hear myself putting him off, but I did not know why I was delaying.

A few hours later, I went home and being an avid Internet user, I checked out a bit about Thailand on the travel brochure sites. It looked truly fantastic. The prices were good too except for the flights. Hotels were cheap to reasonable and food and drinks prices were insignificant compared to where I lived. So, I checked the dates of the two Jazz festivals and they were thirty-three days apart. Now for the flight. I spent well into the next morning checking flights and discovered one for the day after the first festival leaving from our local airport. It was far from the cheapest flight, but it gave me more time.

In a reckless moment I booked it there and then online. I then found a pub with rooms to let online that my friend had said he went to on quiz evenings and guessed that they would be open by now serving breakfasts. I sent them an email and a response came back twenty minutes later. I had been lucky again. The boss was in the middle of checking yesterday’s figures, when he saw my email come through. However, not sure of his Internet ability, he wanted me to phone him right away. I checked my watch, it was still 4AM so I phoned.

He took my booking on trust and so I did not have to make a payment. I had heard about Thailand, made up my mind to go and booked the flight and room all within five hours and I could not wait for nine o’clock to come to notify my friend that I would be going too.

Ultimate Fighting Championship or more commonly known as UFC is fast becoming one of the most recognized sports in the world. While working as a manager, White learned that Semaphore Entertainment Group, the parent company of the UFC, was looking for a buyer for the UFC. White contacted childhood friend Lorenzo Fertitta, an executive at Station Casinos, and a former commissioner of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Within a month, Lorenzo and his older brother Frank bought the UFC, with White installed as its president. White currently owns 10% of Zuffa, LLC, the entity the Fertitta brothers created to own and manage the UFC.

Finally, you should ensure that your new television has enough input and output sockets for the peripheral equipment you have in mind and you’re ready. Therefore, to summarize, I recommend you go for:

Satellite enabled

There are a number of tanning bed lamps in every sun bed on the market. When you are getting a new, or especially a used or older suntan bed, make a good examination of the lamps. Ensure that they are proper tanning bulbs and comply with the FDA guidelines with regard to health and safety. You should also consider how difficult it is to get at the bulbs. Make sure that the bulbs are not difficult to change when the time comes. It is quite important, and a lot cheaper, if you can perform such routine maintenance yourself, if you buy a home tanning bed.

There are two very different, non-interchangeable sorts of bulbs used in low pressure and high pressure beds. You need to ensure you get the right sun bed lamps for your sun bed, because you cannot use just any bulb you like. If you are buying replacement bulbs on the Internet, check the make and model of your existing bed very carefully, because you have to ensure that the bulbs you are ordering are made for your bed.

High Pressure Tanning Bulbs: high pressure beds have quartz-tube lamps in a multitude of sizes. The gases used in these bulbs are pressurized to slightly higher than atmospheric pressure. When you have tanned the skin on one side of your body for about 10-12 minutes, you turn over and tan the other side. Because you tan faster, you need to spend less time in the tanning salon, which means it works out cheaper. You can achieve the depth of tan you want in about three weeks of three to five sessions each week. However, with a conventional bed, it would take you at least a month to achieve the same level of colour. Maintaining your tan is a lot easier too. You only need two or three sessions a month to maintain the colour, as opposed to four times that many visits to a conventional salon bed. Many of these bulbs produce UVA rays only, not UVB rays which are responsible for sunburn.

Conventional Sun Bed Bulbs: Conventional, or low pressure beds use long tube lamps that look like household fluorescent tubes. The lamps are situated above and below the bed of the sun bed, which means that all areas are tanned at the same time, without the need to change positions during the session.

Conventional beds use UVA and UVB rays in varying mixes. Some use both rays and others emit mostly UVA with some UVB rays. UVA rays are responsible for the (premature) ageing effects on the skin and UVB rays are the burning rays that cause sun burn when you are outside in the sun. It is very important to discover which sort of rays your tan bed’s bulbs emit. You must ensure you replace your existing bulbs with lamps of the same specifications after about 1,000 hours of use.

Another factor when selecting the type of bed you use at home or in the salon, is the tanning bed lotion you will use. Different lotions are better for each type of bed. The staff at your tanning salon can help you choose a lotion that will work for the bed you are using and your skin type. On some courses you just put the turf back and step on it to press it down, but on most courses, there is a sand/seed mixture on the course to put into the divot. Also, if your ball makes a deep impression when it lands on the green, you should use your divot tool to repair it.

My family has had carpenters in it for at least four generations and I can not go back any farther than that. I never met my granndfather; he died a month before I was born, but I was named after him and, knowing that I was due and that he was going, he left me a teething ring, which I still have. My father was the youngest son and when he was old enough, he had to leave school to be apprentice to his father who had stopped his roaming by then. He used a brace-and-bit for drilling, several assorted hand-sharpened saws for cutting and his only acquiescence to modern technology, a Yankee, which was a pump-action screwdriver. Everything he needed to hang a door or cut a roof was in one bag or later on a box, which he made himself.

I went away to study and travel and when I returned to stay 12 years later, my brother had finished his carpenter’s apprenticeship and was working with my Dad. That would have been in about’80 and my brother still swears to ths day that Dad only bought power tools then because he, my brother, had learned how use them in technical college.
