Ebooks are starting to come of age. It is now becoming a more viable option to sell your ideas or niche book on line than it is to sell it through a conventional publisher. There are on line publishers like Amazon that will upload your ebook, help you market it, deliver it to your customers, track sales, take payments and pay you the balance.

You can to set your own cost for the book and you will receive about 70% of the absolute revenue. Dedicated ebook readers are making the ebook even more available. For example, say that you are travelling and you finish your book, you may find it difficult to purchase a different book to read for a time, especially if you are abroad.

Not so with modern ebook readers. You only go online with their built-in WIFI capability and download a different one. Or you could download a dozen so that you do not run the risk of being without. Ebooks are cheaper than traditional paper books and more readily accessible. Lots of readers will also hold over 3,000 books.

So, this is a manner to go for publishing a book, but what if you cannot write well enough? What if you have immense ideas for books – fact or fiction – but you just cannot write them down? There can be a number of reasons for this. Maybe writing in not your forte; maybe English (the biggest market for books) is not your mother tongue; or maybe you only do not have the time.

So why not outsource them? Numerous books purportedly written by famous sports personalities were in fact outsourced or written by ghost writers. That is nothing new and no source of shame. It is only horses for courses.

This actually is a business in a box. Let us look at some examples. If you think that the current craze for stories on macabre topics will continue, why not think up a few scenarios and pay for five short stories that you can compile into one ebook? Or look on line, find out what individuals are having problems with and pay for ebooks to solve those problems.

You could have ten books for sale on Amazon within a month offering revenue for years.

So how do you go about it? Well, first of all, someone has to have the concepts and that has to be you or your family or friends. Then you have to outline those concepts for the writer to be able to follow. Then you need to state how long the author has to complete the project; how many words it should contain and what standard of English you expect.

Then Google ”ghost writers desired’ or something comparable. There are many sites acting as go-betweens and lots of solo writers too. Give them the specifications and carefully decide on your writer.

Make sure that all intellectual copyrights are signed over to you on payment and then go over to Amazon, open a publishers account and follow the directions. You can be publishing within 20 minutes and earning within a couple of days. It is really a business in a box.

Ebooks or electronic books are becoming more and more popular in comparison with normal paper books each month. In 2010, Amazon sold more ebooks than traditional books for the first time ever. It is likely that this tendency will continue, because ebooks are far cheaper than printed books. Not only that but it is easier to download a book in minutes than go to a book stare.

Traditionally, ie since the Internet started, people read ebooks on their desktop or laptop computer. In ‘those days’, most ebooks were promotional things, providing just limited knowledge as a tempter to go to the writer’s web site in order to increase sales. In other words, most ebooks were merely adverts to hook a possible client.

That situation still goes on, but increasingly, ebooks are stand-alone items of value without any marketing or any links back to a web site, because they are complete things in themselves – like any regular book you would purchase in a shop. But they are cheaper and more readily accessible.

Another very attractive aspect of ebooks for authors is that it is easier to get up and running – selling your books. If you have ever tried to have a book published, you will know that it can become – and normally is – a very long, drawn-out process involving long spells of waiting and nail-biting.

For instance, it is rumoured that it took the writer the book ‘Virgin Soldiers’ 21 years to find a publisher, yet it became a successful film too. The same, to a lesser extent is true of the Harry Potter books.

If books of that calibre had problems, what opportunity do you think that you have? I have read that approximately one manuscript in ten thousand appears on the book shelves. Would odds like that encourage new writers? No. So how many decent authors are falling by the wayside? Quite a lot, so it would appear.

Another bonus for online ebook publishing is the fact that writers on small niche subjects, have the opportunity to spread their expertise and earn some money too. The fact is that publishing a book in the conventional way is so expensive that the subject of the book has to be very popular or the book will become too expensive to sell.

This is not an issue for ebooks. If you are interested in, say, German teddy bears from 1950-1955, you can publish your book as an ebook whenever you like for the same price as a high interest subject like, say, the Death of Princess Diana – almost at zero price.

This situation will only improve as more and more companies bring out low-cost ebook readers and more and more businesses are willing to host, market and sell your ebook for a commission.

For example, Amazon will handle the sales and distribution of your ebook for 30% of the cost of your book, which you can set yourself. This empowers authors who would never have got their books to market in any other way.

Everyone knows about the problem of the proliferation of greenhouse gases and the devastation of the rain forests. We all know of the stress that over-crowding puts on the environment and we all know that we are trying to do our bit by recycling. The differences of outlook usually come down to degree. In short, we all know that it is going on, but we do not all agree how serious it has become yet.

Fair enough, in my opinion. I distrust anyone who calls himself an expert. That is a description that ought to be used to describe you, no one that you use to describe yourself. Like the individuals who call themselves entrepreneurs rather than business people because it sounds grander.

Anyway, I am going off on a tangent. One of the things that readers can do is not buy books, newspapers and magazines. This would relieve the strain on trees and allow the recycled material that we currently use for books, newspapers and magazines to become used on essential school books. It may even make them a bit cheaper.

Of course, publishers of paperback books, newspapers and magazines are not going to be glad with that proposal and neither are people who work in the industry or readers who like to hold their purchase in their hands. Nevertheless, it appears inevitable that it will come to pass one day.

Indeed, numerous moves have already been made in that direction. There are dozens of handheld ebook reading devices on the market, the most well-known of which is probably the Amazon Kindle. The Kindle comes in two sizes: the standard 6″ model for reading ‘ordinary’ books and the 9.7″ device for reading technical books, newspapers and magazines. Needless to say, the larger model will also display paperbacks.

The Kindle and many of the other equivalent handheld ebook reading devices will allow the owner to link to an online book shop, library or repository and download books, newspapers and magazines for a fee. Having said that, there are hundreds of thousands of books that are out of copyright, which can be downloaded free of charge from Amazon, Google and the Glutenberg Project.

Lots of these handheld ebook reading devices will hold 3,500 books! That is a lot of paper, whichever way you look at it. 3,500 books at your finger tips and in your pocket with millions more where they came from and lots more being added to the libraries every day. All downloadable from anywhere where the Net is available anywhere in the world in a minute or two.

This means that avid readers or researchers never need wait for the bookshop to open again or have to go into town to look for a bookshop or library. How many trees and gallons of petrol can that save you in your lifetime?

It is already often predicted that universities will be offering course books to their students on such devices within five years and that high schools and colleges will follow suit within ten years. These handheld ebook reading devices are almost certainly not suitable for infants because they are not robust, but private readers are taking them up rapidly.

Hinduism is a complex blend of polytheistic religion, a (belief in many gods, rather like the Greek and the Roman deities) and philosophy. It originated from Vedism, which dates back to the second millennium before Christ. It is not astounding therefore that many sects have developed or broken away from a belief of this age.

However, most of these sects rely on the one book, the Vedic texts known collectively as the ‘Upanishads’, and their differences are a result of their individual interpretations of it. These texts describe the activities of Shiva, the creator, preserver and destroyer of the universe and they are based on even more ancient writings such as the Mahabharata, the Ramayana and, less well-known in the West, the Puaranas.

The Bhagavad Gita, the Lord’s Song, a part of the Mahabharata, relates a dialogue between Krishna (another incarnation of the god Vishnu) and the student Prince Arjuna. This dialogue elucidates the three paths to enlightenment or union with God.

This might sound dreary, but I can promise you that reading the Bhagavad Gita could easily transform the way that you look upon life no matter which religion you believe in, if you have one.

The fundamentals of Hinduism are that people should attempt to connect their selves (Atman) with the Godhead (Brahman) and reincarnation (samsara). Just what people come back as is determined by how people have led their lives, that is, one’s actions (karma) and one’s duty (dharma).

This continuous reincarnation into a life of suffering can only be broken when one joins the Godhead in a state of Atman-Brahman. Their are four paths to achieve this divine state in Hinduism. These are: jnana yoga, which is based on knowledge; bhakti yoga, which is based on service to God; karma yoga, which is based on work for God (rather than oneself) and raja yoga, which is based on psychophysical exercise.

Raja yoga, or the ‘Royal Path’, is the kind of yoga that most Westerners will have heard of and seen. Raja yoga is more common in these West nowadays than at any other period in history.

Hinduism has three principal theistic traditions based on anthropomorphic gods. Vishnu is a loving god incarnated as Krishna; Shiva is both protective and destructive and Brahma is the creator. Saktism is a kind of worship devoted to the female partners of Vishnu and Shiva. Hindu’s venerate all forms of life, but the most sacred animal to Hindus is the cow.

Hindu worship revolves around a person’s and a family’s devotion to a particular ‘favourite’ god or group of gods. The act of worship is carried out at a shrine, which can be at home or communally in public. There are a number of places of pilgrimage including the Ganges in northern India.

The three primary festivals are Dipavali – the ‘festival of lights’ – which sacred to Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity; Holi, a spring festival and Dashara, a harvest festival.

Hinduism is the oldest of the world’s great religions. It is most widespread in India, which has outlawed the ancient caste system of Hinduism. This caste system used to divide society into five main groups: brahmins were leaders, philosophers and artists; kshatriyas were princes, soldiers and administrators; vaishyas were merchants and landowners; shudras were labourers and the rest were outcasts or untouchables.

After Buddha’s death in 483 BC, his closest adherents (his disciple monks) took time off their preaching to write down his sermons (sutras) and his regulations (vinayas). In the old convention of Buddha, monks originally walked the countryside preaching and teaching for nine months of the year and went to sit out the monsoon period in a retreat for three months.

These retreats became monasteries and temples. The retreat into monasteries was important in the development of various interpretations of Buddha’s doctrines and in due course led to the establishment of different sects which acquired popularity in various regions of Asia.

There are three main Buddhist sects: Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana or Tantric Buddism.

Theravada Buddhism is the principal sect in Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand and is the sect that remains most loyal to Buddha’s original doctrines. Theravada Buddhism teaches that the path to the achievement of personal Nirvana is the objective of life. It is a very personal religion in that everybody is alone on their own path to enlightenment.

Mahayana Buddism became the largest sect and spread along the Silk Road from India through China to east Asia starting in around 200 BC. Mahayana Buddhists worship Buddha and the Buddhist saints (bodhisattvas – meaning ‘wisdom beings’).

Bodhisattvas are beings that restrain themselves from attaining Nirvana (and therefore leaving the wheel of life or cycle of birth, death and reincarnation) so that they may help others achieve Nirvana, which is a major difference between it and Theravada Buddhism.

Mahayana Buddhism is more easily absorbed by different cultures than the other forms which accounts for it having spread so far. The Buddhist emperor Ashoka (272-232 BC) gave Mahayana a colossal boost in popularity by sending missionaries to Sri Lanka, south-east Asia and China from where it was carried to Korea and Japan in the Sixth Century anno domini.

Zen Buddhism grew in popularity in Japan and China in the Seventh Century. Zen Buddhism is a variant of Mahayana Buddhism and teaches that Nirvana can be achieved through mental conditioning and meditation.

Vajrayana or Tantric Buddhism arose in the Seventh Century as well and is most common in Tibet and Mongolia. Vajrayana Buddhism tries to identify the initiate with a visualized deity. Tantric cannon includes esoteric writings, teaching that meditation can engage the mind by the use of mantras (chants), mudras (hand gestures) and mandalas (visible icons). The Dalai Lama is the spiritual and temporal head of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhists.

Buddhism reached its height of popularity in China during the T’ang dynasty in the Ninth Century, when it was partially suppressed by royal command. Likewise Zen attained its height of popularity in the Nineteen Century when the Japanese royal family switched to Shintoism taking many of the royal hangers-on with it. Buddhism declined in India as well in the Eighth Century because lots of its concepts were absorbed into Hinduism. Buddism was to all intents and purposes extinct in India by the Thirteenth Century.

Most people do not look forward to death. They would like to live a long life and endeavour to stay eternally young. The peoples of each country spend billions every year on health care and beauty products.

Some individuals believe that the length of time you live is written in fate and there is nothing that you can do about it, others believe that we only have a certain number of heart beats, but most individuals think that genetics, diet and lifestyle are the major influences.

However, there might be another factor worth looking into: your place of residence. There are a couple of places in the world where people appear to live longer, on average, than is normal for their country or globally.

Take the city of Okinawa in southern Japan. Okinawa has more than a million inhabitants, 900 of whom are over 100 years of age. Japan has an aging populace in general, but nowhere there is the same as Okinawa for longevity and the percentage of centenarians is between four and five times higher than in the UK or the USA.

Not just do Okinawans live longer, but they also tend to stay healthy until their dying days, which is everyone’s dream. Diet is thought to be the main reason why Okinawans live such long, healthy lives. They eat a great deal of fish, tofu, soya and seaweed and swill it down with lots of tea.

This makes their diet low in saturated fats and pretty low in salt. However, it is also a widely-held belief in Okinawa that one should just consume until one is 80% full not 100% This may put less strain on the digestive system, but no one is quite sure yet if this has a bearing on living a longer, healthy life.

Then there is Loma Linda in California, the USA. The citizens of Loma Linda live an average of five to ten years longer than the residents of near-by towns. The town is mainly Seventh Day Adventist, which preaches vegetarianism, no smoking and no alcohol. Some will look to these reasons as the reasons for living longer.

However, this does not account for why almost everyone, even the smoking, alcohol-drinking, meat-eating residents, lives longer. Others put the longevity down to religious belief, but researchers are mystified. Perhaps going to church and depending on God relieves believers of some of the stress of daily life and stress is well-known to be a reason for major diseases.

Another strange place is Owoda on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia. It is just a village of less than 2,000 residents but it has far more than the average number of 100 year olds than elsewhere. What is even stranger is that there are as many old men as old women which is not the norm anywhere else in the world.

The well-known Mediterranean diet and the pleasant climate are considered to be factors at play here, but it may also have something to do with their genes. The residents were virtually isolated for hundreds of years and marriage among relatives was not unusual. Usually this is not recommended because it can cause abnormalities. It looks like the abnormality that inter-marriage caused for the Owodans is longevity.

There was a colossal rise in the birth rate after the Second World War. These babies were dubbed the Baby Boomers and they are the babies born between about 1946 and 1960. This means that the first Baby Boomers became pensioners in 2011 at the age of 65.

It should be noticed that when the first Baby Boomers came of age, they produced the changes in civil and human rights and discrimination associated with 1968. They also fashioned the Hippy Movement, Flower Power and the Sexual Revolution. So what will ensue when they become pensioners?

The Baby Boomer generation is the richest generation ever, but they have never experienced the drop in income, status, health and mobility associated with older age, so it is likely that there will be some type of pensioners’ movement.

About 22% of the American population are Boomers, which means that there will be tens of millions of people retiring over the next ten years. This has several important consequences. The first one is for health care; the mass retirement could or almost certainly will put the health care system under massive pressure.

The second one is employment. Because the Boomers’ generation is the largest section of society, when they retire, there will be a shortage of labour. After all, if the Boomer generation is the biggest portion of society, then by definition the following generation must be smaller.

These statistics are roughly the same for all Western countries and it probably accounts for why there is a rush in Western countries to permit immigration. Firstly, immigrants will take up the slack in the workplace and second, their taxes will help pay for all the old Boomers.

So, with any luck, neither the state finances nor the Boomers’ health will suffer, but what other effects might this mass retirement have? Well, there could well be a colossal rise in demand for retirement homes both in one’s home country and abroad. Baby boomers are prolific travellers and lots of them may like to retire to warmer countries or warmer parts of their country.

The southern states, provinces or counties of Western countries in the northern hemisphere and warmer countries in general, like Thailand, Spain and Italy could see a boom in retirement housing. The construction industry may get a much required shot in the arm.

Most Western governments and numerous private construction firms already have plans and even dynamic projects to satisfy this requirement for retirement housing when it begins to kick in. If the Boomers make a mass migration out of the cities into the countryside or to the seaside, it could free up millions of inner city residences and at the same time make lots of construction work outside the cities. But not only that, millions of extra jobs will be created in support and service staff positions.

The aging of the Baby boomers could be just the kick start that most deteriorating Western economies need to get back on their feet after the banking crisis of 2008-2010. Let’s hope so.

Buddhism was started by the adherents of Siddhartha Gautama (circa 563-483 BC). He was born into a Hindu family of the kshatriya caste in what is now called Nepal. At the age of 29, he left his wife and infant son and went in search of enlightenment.

He achieved enlightenment some time later while sitting under a bodhi tree near Patna. After 49 days of rapture and resisting temptations (Mara), He, now known as Buddha, formed an order of monks and went forth to teach the word. After 45 years of teaching their philosophy of enlightenment Buddha died and reached Nirvana, the state in which ‘ideas and consciousness cease to exist’.

One of the most central concepts to Buddhists is the Tipitaka (the ‘Three Baskets’), which is a record of the Buddha’s doctrines as set down by His early followers after his death. The writings in these ‘three baskets’ tell the story of Buddha’s life (Buddha); record his laws (Dharma); and his guidelines for setting up and maintaining a monastic order (Sangha).

Buddhists believe in reincarnation and the wheel of life in a similar manner to Hindus. They also believe that this cycle of life, death and rebirth can be broken by achieving enlightenment. Enlightenment can be achieved by adherence to the Four Noble Truths.

Life is impermanent despite the cycle of life, death and rebirth and can only create suffering (dukka) because of the pursuit of mortal desires. Suffering and desire can just be conquered by achieving Nirvana, which can be achieved by following the Eightfold Path, otherwise known as the ‘Middle Way’.

The Middle Way consists of: right belief, thought, speech, action, livelihood, work, mindfulness and concentration. These make up the nucleus of Buddhist ethics.

A hallmark of Buddhism is the monastic order. Men can become monks for a few years or for life. There is also a female monastic order. In some sects, boys go into a monastery for a period of between a couple of weeks and a couple of months as part of their passage into adulthood. Boys in Thailand are expected to be monks for a number of weeks before they eventually get married.

Monks live an ascetic life in monasteries or temples. Each village has a temple in much the same way as western villages have a church, but each temple tries to uphold a population of at least nine monks, which is considered the ideal number for some of their duties like blessing a house or performing a wedding ceremony.

Buddhist monks live on alms given by the local villagers. In Thailand the young monks walk the streets in the early morning collecting donations of food, which has to be consumed before midday, after which they may not eat. Monks are not permitted any contact with women at all. They may not even sit next to them on a bus or give the fare to a female bus conductress.

Buddhist temples are primarily for personal contemplation and meditation. They are open to anyone twenty-four hours a day and people use them to gain respite from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Group prayer meetings are far less common a trait of Buddhism than they are in Judaism, Christianity, Islam or even Hinduism.

All women and a increasing number of men would like shiny hair. This is because shiny hair is perceived as belonging to a healthy, vivacious person. The fact is that as we age, men’s hair falls out and women’s hair becomes more lifeless. So how can you get age-defying hair?

There are a few tricks of the trade, some of which are pretty obvious when you give them a bit of consideration. The first and most vital tip is not to over wash your hair. Your head produces oil to protect your hair and it does that because it thinks that hair is vital to help it regulate the temperature of the brain.

OK, these days we can put a hat on or erect a parasol, but it takes the body a long time to change. The point is to not wash all the oil from your hair too often. You want to wash the dirt off your hair but not all the oil.

Consequently, rub the shampoo into your scalp and not into your hair. As the shampoo runs off your hair it will take the dirt off your hair with it but only some of the oil. This makes a huge difference.

The tip above is the most important bit of advice because it applies to whichever shampoo you buy, but the next tip applies to what shampoo to purchase. Do not skimp on shampoo if you would like lovely-looking hair.

Do you remember the days when you had to wash your hair, rinse it and then apply conditioner and then rinse again? Well those really were the good old days as far as hair is concerned. These all-in-ones clean on the principle that the conditioner will not work in the presence of oil and the shampoo will not work if there is no oil.

This means that on the first wash, half the shampoo is wasted, but the shampoo has to scour your hair for the second wash (conditioner) to work. On the second wash the conditioner does its job, but the shampoo half goes down the drain having done nothing.

In other words, your cheap bottle of shampoo with conditioner costs two times as much as you paid for it, so why not buy different shampoo and conditioner in the first instance?

The combined shampoo and conditioner is a con because it makes you think that you are saving time and thereby getting something for nothing. You are not.

The best advice you can get for your hair is to purchase a mild shampoo without conditioner. By all means buy one that says that it is better suited to your type of hair if you like. Then do some research on your hair type and natural colour on the Net and make your own conditioner or purchase one.

Individuals used to use vinegar, beer, dandelions and all kinds of items and one that I have recently come across is Butterfly Pea. Do not become guiled by adverts and time saving if you really like your hair

Everyone should take a course on First Aid, because no one knows if they will be the first person on the scene of an accident. Each parent should know about fundamental First Aid because children are so accident-prone and everyone ought to know some First Aid in order to be a good citizen.

Fundamental First Aid is not difficult and you can easily learn how to handle cuts, fractures, choking, burns, scalds, fainting and a number of other common predicaments.

However, many individuals just do not have the time to do First Aid training. For this reason, numerous businesses are now offering First Aid training on line. In fact, besides learning how to cope with everyday physical problems, you can also learn how to do artificial resuscitation (CPR) and cope with heart attacks and drowning.

It is a fact that some individuals say that you can not learn First Aid on line or by reading a book, but others say that it is better to know something than nothing, that practicing on a dummy is not much use and that most people will hopefully not have to use their First Aid training for years and so will have forgotten the finer points anyway. A happy medium may be to take First Aid training on line first of all and then take a test at a training centre

The fact is that you can learn many items of information during First Aid training on line. You can learn about hygiene, how to decontaminate wounds, how to wrap a bandage and apply a tourniquet or a make-shift tourniquet.

You will also learn how to help a victim of burns and scalding, which you are much more liable to come across than a victim of heart attack or stroke.

There are many First Aid training courses on line and some are much better than others. As you know, computers are very powerful nowadays, so you ought to look for a course which makes full use of the Internet and your computer’s graphics capabilities.

Computers can produce very life- like images, so do not purchase an old First Aid training package that consists of only thousands of words but no (interactive) images.

First Aid training on line is not expensive and is perhaps ideal for people who need a refresher course or a reference manual that they can pick up from time to time. It is also very practical to have a quiz at the end of every chapter to ensure that you have understood what you have read.

Endeavour to find a course offering First Aid training on line that can be upgraded, so that you can buy the modules that you would like to learn. If you purchase First Aid training on line that includes chapters on industrial chemical burns, it is only padding for most people because you will never need to use them. Begin with First Aid training on line that deals with the home, the garden and the car and move on from there, if you need to.

Office stress is a very frequent occurrence. Office stress comes about because of the pressures of the work, which is frequently not so easy to define, particularly in a small firm. In a large office, jobs are quite clearly defined and everybody knows what they are responsible for.

In a small office though, the few members of staff often have to cover a dozen or so different jobs and so office stress can build up. Office stress can build up rapidly if the boss is unsympathetic or a member of a small office team goes off pregnant or sick whether a temporary stand-in is found or not.

Office stress is a very real phenomenon especially in a small business. For example, it is not uncommon for a company with $1 annual turnover to be managed by a staff of two – the office manager and a secretary. This means that the office manager has to be able to do every job and it is hoped that the secretary will be able to do most of them as well. This creates office stress.

The secretary-cum-assistant will need to understand filing, typing, word-processing, data entry for book-keeping software, how to read job sheets, time sheets and invoices. The secretary will also have to welcome visitors, but keep sales people at bay, while staying polite.

The secretary will also have to have good phone manners and be able to reply to enough questions to be able to shield the manager from time wasters and deal with serious questions if the manager is not in. These jobs are difficult enough on their own, but office stress builds up if you find yourself trying to do three jobs at once and that is not uncommon.

You could be keying in time sheet data the manager has gone to visit site, when the phone rings with an enquirey and a potential client comes in asking for a quote. This is enough to make office stress soar.

The manager will also have to be able to carry out these tasks, but the office manager will also be responsible for management accounts, pay, job costing, pricing, composing letters and keeping up with the law as the Company Secretary, which means that he/she will have to know enough about employment law to advise the directors.

This leads to tremendous office stress. Besides all this, the office manager is normally responsible for paying and collecting taxes and keeping up with regulations and employment law. In these days of litigation and government claw backs, mistakes in any legal field are punished with costly fines or compensation claims. This degree of responsibility also only increases the level of office stress.

The difficulty is that office stress, like most types of stress, leads to tension and irritability and irritability can lead to a short fuse and flashes of temper, which just goes to worsen the situation and raise the degree of office stress another peg.

The degrees of office stress soar if an important piece of office equipment breaks down, because it is always just as you need it. Because it can take hours or even days to get it repaired, you are expected to be able to carry out minor repairs yourself. And then if the boss is an unsympathetic or just unlikeable person then the level of office stress can get even worse.

People look upon retirement in different ways. Those who have saved or invested sufficient to be able to enjoy their retirement in style usually look forward to abandoning the daily grind, whereas those who have not saved are usually not looking forward to it. However, there is another set of people who span both of these classes who do not want to retire either.

It is not because they do not have sufficient money, it is because they are scared that they will not have enough to do. This is a real shame, but it is normally proof of an over-concentration on one’s job and not enough other interests outside work.

Here are a couple of tips to help you prepare yourself to make the most of your retirement.

Do not regard retirement as the end of your useful life. Yes, it probably was for your father or grandfather, but it does not have to be for you because individuals live longer nowadays. Your grandfather almost certainly only had six or seven years after retirement, but you could have twenty or more. If you still want to work, you can, either for someone else or for yourself.

Widen your circle of friends and interests or hobbies. Five to ten years before you retire, begin an interest that has absolutely nothing to do with your job – archery, ballooning, deep sea fishing, marathon running, bridge or embroidery, anything, but be willing to fill the gap that losing the nine to five will make.

Many retirees become far less active than they were when working. This not good, so plan to take up a replacement activity like gardening, rambling, swimming, sailing or golf. In fact, anything to keep those pounds from piling on just at the time of your life when they can do the most damage. If you do not like the idea of taking up an active hobby, modify your diet and walk for thirty minutes every morning and every evening.

If you do not want to start a new job or a new business, consider donating some of your free time to a good cause. You could visit the elderly or the lonely in hospital. You could visit lonely people in the community or you could teach computers or gardening to those who want to learn. Study something new. Have you always wished to be able to play the guitar, speak Spanish or use the Internet? Well, now is your opportunity. There are usually day and night classes in these and other subjects.

Travel more. All right, you might not have a lot of money, but you do have a bus pass (in many countries, anyway). You could set up a fortnight’s holiday using your bus pass for daily travel from guest house to guest house. You could write a book or merely read all those books that you have not had time to read over the last fifty years.

May 1st, 2011Symptoms Of Stress

We are all under stress the majority of the time and a lot of people like to think that they understand stress and can use it to get a piece of work done to the best of their ability, but do you really know what the symptoms of stress are and what it can do to your body? When we are piling the stress onto ourselves, we just assume that our bodies will adapt and get on with it, but is that actually true?

The fact is that we all have our own level at which stress is reasonable. This is because stress can be emotional, physical and mental and if you go beyond your capacity for any length of time in any of these fields, you can cause temporary or even longer term harm, which could require professional medical help.

If you do not take measures to recover your equilibrium, you will soon find that the apposite role in your life will deteriorate: that is, your relationships will fail, your physical health will crumble or your ability to do your job in the right manner will vanish.

The physical indications of stress are aches and pains, including headaches, general tiredness and lethargy. Unchecked, these symptoms can lead to migraine, muscle tension and stiffness.

These prime alterations to how your body operates can then result in other issues such as diarrhea or constipation, nausea and dizziness. These symptoms of stress, in turn, can lead to sleepless nights or insomnia.

Once it gets this bad, people normally turn to medication, but medication can only give temporary relief such as sleeping tablets. This can lead to dependence.

If the sufferer already has a weak heart, this combination of indications of stress can lead to chest pains, palpitations and erratic heart beat, which in turn can be precursors of heart disease. Please note that this chain of activities is not guaranteed.

Individuals are different and some doctors are better than others, but stress and heart disease have been shown to be linked.

Symptoms of stress can also reveal themselves in behavioural problems. These indications of stress often start with insomnia or just problems getting to sleep and waking up unrefreshed. However, feeling constantly dog-tired has a knock-on effect on our emotions – we tend to get more emotional, but usually in a negative way. Often this means over-reacting, like snapping at someone who has posed a perfectly sensible question.

This sort of response can lead to the sufferer shunning society. Self-pity, isolation, loss of job and depression can soon follow.

So, you have to learn how to get off that slippery slope, the downward spiral of everyday stress. The place to begin is the mind. You need to learn how to recognize when ‘things are getting on top of you’ and learn how to unwind.

There are a number of successful techniques including meditation, breathing exercises, aromatherapy and playing soothing music in order to bring about a condition of relaxation in your mind.

While you are learning to take the symptoms of stress head-on with your mind, take some time to pamper your body as well. There are also numerous ways of doing this, but well-liked methods are taking a sauna or having a massage or pedicure, facial or manicure. Having your hair done.

Physical exercise is a good reliever of stress too and it does not have to be rigorous. A thirty minute walk, twice a day is sufficient for most people, but you might get to like it and then it is the more the better.

Finally, you could take a good look at your diet. You do not have to go overboard, but do you drink too much coke, coffee or tea? Do you consume a lot of rubbish? Are you eating enough fruit?

The doctrines of Islam were passed down to humankind through Mohammed who is widely thought of as the last, so far, in the line of Middle Eastern prophets. The first was Abraham of Judaism renown, then there was Jesus for Christianity and then came Mohammed. Mohammed was born in around 570 AD in Mecca, western Saudi Arabia and died 62 years later in 632 in Medina.

The Koran, or the ‘Recitation’ in English, consists of 144 chapters and was revealed to Mohammed by God. These doctrines were written down by his scribes over the course of 23 years.

Like its antecedent religions, Islam is a monotheistic religion and its narrative includes stories or references to Abraham, Moses (and the Ten Commandments) and Jesus, but does not accept Christianity’s claim to his divinity.

Another major variance from the Middle Eastern religions before it, is that Jews trace their ancestry through Abraham’s son Isaac, whereas Muslims trace their history through Abraham’s son Ishmael by another wife.

The root of the word Islam – ‘s-l-m’ – means ‘peace’ and ‘submission’ (to God). A Muslim’s relationship with God is determined by the ‘Five Pillars of Islam’. These five pillars are: Shahadah (profession of faith); public and collective prayer five times daily; charity to the poor; fasting during the holy month of Ramadan and a pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest of places to Muslims, at least once in their lifetime.

Islam has stringent dietary laws, notably with regard to eating pork, and prohibitions against promiscuity, theft, gambling and lying. Muslims worship in Mosques and the services are led by Imams. The most important time to pray is at midday on a Friday, which is the Muslim Sabbath.

The vast majority of Muslims are Sunnites, who are the traditionalists, and the remainder are Shi’ites or ‘partisans’. This could roughly be compared with the relationship between Judaism and Christianity. The variances between the two sects in the both religions have caused untold misery over the centuries and there is no sign of it stopping any time soon.

There is significantly more known about Mohammed than of Jesus. Mohammed was brought up by his uncle and at the age of 25 he was a trader. At the age of 40, in 610, an angel instructed him to spread the word of God. He was not accepted in Mecca but the authorities invited him to quell the city of Medina in 622, which he did.

His condition for accepting this quest was that the people accept the word of God. This they did – this move is known as the Hegim and it is the date from which Muslims record contemporary history – like the Western world uses the birth of Jesus.

By 632 Mohammed was dead, but by then the vast majority of Arabs were Muslims. For one reason or another, Islam spread east and west from Saudi Arabia taken usually by Arab traders probably. Islam never actually got a foothold in Europe (except Spain) but it did move East quite extensively.

April 27th, 2011Why Do A First Aid Course?

Have you ever been the first individual on the scene of a serious accident? I have – a cyclist took a corner too fast and too sharp. He came off his bike and was knocked unconscious. I went to him, but I had no concept what to do. I felt sorry for him because I could not help and I felt embarrassed for myself and still do, ten years later.

This is why everyone ought to know the fundamentals of First Aid. Everybody ought to know how to make an accident victim comfortable and how to resuscitate him or her if necessary until medical professionals arrive.

Everybody should know what to do in the event of accidents that cause such common events as choking, drowning, fractured limbs, heart attacks, burns, scalding and electric shock. Everyday accidents that not everybody sees every day luckily.

A fundamental First Aid course will teach the ‘Four P’s', although they may call it by another name. The Four P’s are Preservation of life; Prevention of further injury; Promotion of recovery and the Protection of yourself.

This is achieved by the application of ‘ABC’, which stands for ‘Airways, Breathing and Circulation’, which means that first you should check the nose, mouth and throat for blockages, then check for breathing and resuscitate if you have to, then stem any bleeding with bandages and tourniquets, if necessary.

Knowledge of CPR or artificial resuscitation is also desirable and it is also a major component of any First Aid course. Artificial resuscitation ought to be applied when the patient has stopped breathing or the heart has stopped beating. Some basic training is better before applying CPR, because it can harm a patient that does not require it.

Besides just wanting to be a decent citizen, there are several other reasons why you might like to take a First Aid course. Some jobs need that those who carry them out have been on a First Aid course. Professions that may need knowledge of First Aid include: supervisors of children like play school leaders, teachers, scout masters and youth club leaders.

Some jobs will more than likely provide their own First Aid course. This would almost certainly be the case in the police force and in factories where specific industrial accidents may happen such as chemical burns.

If your First Aid is a bit rusty, you ought to consider taking a refresher First Aid course. You will find numerous First Aid courses once you start looking. Your local community centre might arrange a First Aid course from time to time, so might your local hospital, police force, ambulance and fire services.

If not, you will invariably find a First Aid course on line. If you take a First Aid course on line, you will probably have to attend an actual test of your information if you require a certificate, although all the study can be done at home, which will save time.

Before you go, here is another mnemonic to help you remember: ‘BBB’, breathing before bleeding, bleeding before bones’ or should that be the ’6 B’s'?

April 26th, 2011Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

If you are at all interested in either Pennsylvania or American history, you will surely have heard of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and the historic activities that took place there for the period of the American Civil War. The three day long battle that took place there in July 1863 was cruel and bloody, but was hailed as a victory for the Unionist North.

Even so, one quick look in the Union Army burial ground in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on Cemetery Hill will persuade you that the victory came at a very high cost. The cost in human life and human suffering was gigantic on both sides. Later on in the same year, Abraham Lincoln gave a discourse which was to become famous throughout the world as the Gettysburg Address.

These days, the Gettysburg National Military Park is a tranquil place, but it acts as a moving reminder of the battle that was fought, the strategies employed, the heroism of the combatants and the readiness of military leaders to sacrifice the common soldier for political objectives.

If you go to the Gettysburg National Military Park, you would do well to start your tour in the visitors’ centre. There you will be able to pick up books, pamphlets and leaflets to help you orientate yourself when you are on the battleground, even if you are familiar with how and where the actual battle was fought.

If you feel that it would be too much for you to work things out for yourself or if you do not have much time, you could join one of the regular guided tours. If you are somewhere in between these two definitions, you could first watch a film in the Cycloarma Center, where there are also historical items recovered from the battleground on the numerous excavations that have taken place over the nearly 150 years since the battle at Gettysburg took place. If you do not look around the museum before you go on to the battleground, you should look later.

If you are going to Gettysburg to enlighten your children about that most important era of American history, you ought to first check out the special interest programmes accessible to 7-12 year olds in the warmer summer months. One programme allows children to enlist in the army of 1863 for an hour in order to get a sense for what it was like for soldiers of the day and what it was like for the children that helped them fight.

Another programme consists of a story-teller telling stories of what it was like to be a youngster in the days of the Civil War and the role that kids played both in the war and in civilian life back then.

Gettysburg is a spellbinding place to go to whether your family was embroiled in the battle there or not. Many of the combatants’ names and place names like Devil’s Den and Cemetery Hill will already be familiar to you and a visit to the Gettysburg National Military Park will bring them back to life for you.

The post Second World War years were an age of affluence for numerous countries, but particularly the United States because their plant and infrastructure was undamaged and they earned a lot of money furnishing the products the remainder of the world required to rebuild their countries.

America was working flat-out in the Fifties and early Sixties and wages and national prosperity kept rising. A similar feeling of goodwill was evident in numerous other countries, but it was relief that the war was over and gratefulness that their lives and cities were being rebuilt. This feeling of international joy and plentiful employment also led to a boom in babies.

The so-called Baby Boomers were being born in their millions into a joyful time where money and employment was everywhere to be had. Education was seized upon not just by these youngsters but also by numerous returning service men and women, who wanted to take a bigger function in that bright new world that was stretching out before them.

With a better education and the mood of liberation that the ending of the War brought about, the Civil Rights Movement started to thrive particularly in America were non-Caucasians were still being segregated.

Although it was not called Apartheid, segregation is just the English word for the same concept and masses of people were starting to find it insufferable and not just non-Whites either.

Individuals after the War were far less respectful of Authority, Governments and the Old Ruling Orders for several factors. It was these individuals who got us all into wars in the first instance and it was these people who were denying Civil Rights. Even if they did not condone segregation they did not do much to abolish it.

As Marx or Engels said, nobody gives up power, it has to be seized.

The people alive in the Fifties and Sixties were unlike any generation that had ever preceded them. They had money, education, a healthy disrespect for authority and a higher percentage of individuals who had been abroad than ever before in history.

Even if they were bearing guns at the time. This was a heady cocktail and civil disobedience raged all across the world from America to Europe to Thailand in the Sixties and Seventies.

The new order expressed itself in music and rock and roll was its name. At no point in time before had youngsters had their own music and they had the technology to reproduce it cheaply, the freedom to transmit it and the money to buy it. A whole new industry was started in the Fifties – record labels aimed at kids.

Now that the Baby Boomers are getting old, they are breaking other norms as well. Boomers are inquiring why the are expected to feel old at sixty-five and quit work. At sixty-five these days people often still have twenty years left to live and if the past is anything to go by, they will not merely roll over and die on this one either.

April 22nd, 2011A Short History Of Judaism

It has been estimated that about 80% of the world’s population believe in one religion or another (and there are lots of them), but about 70% of those are adherents to the big four. The four biggest religions are: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Judaism is the precursor of both Islam and Christianity.

The Hebrew Bible recounts the history of the world and the story of the journey of the people from creation, through the flood to the arrival in the Promised Land, or from Mesopotamia to Canaan, led by Abraham.

The offspring of Abraham and his people were enslaved by the Egyptians and did not manage to escape until Moses led them out of captivity. During this journey, Moses was given the Ten Commandments from God and they went on to be the bedrock of Jewish law and custom although there is no doubt that the Jewish mode of life has evolved from this period in the Tenth Century before Christ.

The sacred writings of the Hebrew Bible or Masorah are separated into twenty-four books. However, the same writings are divided up into thirty-nine books in the Christian Bible’s Old Testament. The Torah or The Law was being composed at this time but it was amended and updated between the Tenth and Fifth Centuries before Christ.

In addition to the Hebrew scriptures, there is a rich tradition of ancient oral commentary known as the Talmud, which is a huge compilation of the Oral Law. The Talmud is the accepted authority for Orthodox Jews.

Judaism is the most ancient monotheistic religion known to the West. Jews believed in one God whilst all of the known world believed in pantheism or many gods like the Ancient Greeks. The name of God in the Jewish language is Yahweh and they believe that Yahweh agreed a covenant with His people to take care of them for ever as long as they were devoted exclusively to him.

In the Jewish faith, sin is the unashamed disrespect of God’s will and that is punishable by God in a similar fashion to the Buddhist belief in karma.. The objective of following God’s Law is being welcomed into His Kingdom.

Jews worship in synagogues in congregations led by Rabbis who are considered Teachers or Masters (as in the old manner of calling teachers, ‘masters’) rather than as monks or vicars. The Jewish Sabbath is not the Sunday as in Christianity, but is observed from sunset Friday until sunset Saturday night.

The most significant holidays or holy days in the Jewish calendar are: Rosh Hashanah (New Year); Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement); Hanukah (Festival of Lights) and Pesach (Passover). The Jewish nation does not celebrate Christmas because they believe that the Son of God is still yet to be born. They see Jesus as a prophet in the same way as the Muslims do.

There are three main branches of modern Judaism which are: Orthodox Judaism; Reform Judaism and Conservative Judaism. Some of these branches of Judaism are more prevalent in some countries than others.

A large part of a good upbringing is a decent education. Parents have diverse financial resources but they also have diverse ways of organizing their children’s education. Some parents are better at it than others. Similarly, not all children want to become doctors or dentists, no matter what their parents would choose for them and most of us thank God for that. Diversity is the spice of life, because fortunately we are not all the same.

Paying for your child’s higher education is quite another thing. The costs of higher education never seem to drop , in spite of the fact that there is a recession and parents are being laid off. State funding is also in question. Therefore, there is a huge pressure on the subsidies that are available.

If you are short of the necessary amount of money to send your child to college or pay for it yourself, you will have to use your best talent to try to gain a grant from private industry. You alone know what you or your child is best at and the best thing to do is to exploit that talent in order to attract a scholarship.

One of the kinds of grant that is often overlooked by the academically inclined is a cheerleading grant. If you can dance, if you are out-going and if you like showing off, you might get a cheerleading grant, even if you want to study pure or applied mathematics! Tangents off this variation are scholarships for gymnastics and track events.

There are four things to consider when seeking a cheerleading grant and they can all be made to begin with the letter ‘W’, so that they are easy to remember.

First find out WHO is in charge of cheerleading in your school and if they know where you can go to find out more information. If the coach in your school is not up to speed, go higher. Go over his or her head, otherwise you may miss out. If that does not work out, ask around for big local sports teams and write to the sports club directly.

Once you have the relevant information about where the organizations are, find out WHAT they require from you. A good approach would be to look at old games and practise the moves that the cheerleaders perform in those games. Once you know the cheerleading moves from previous games, you will have demonstrated an interest in the club.

Find out whether the fund that you are applying to has restrictions on WHERE you can be educated. Will you be constrained to the USA? If you want to study English in London, that will be a difficulty

Find out WHEN the application has to be made by. In other words, what are the deadlines.

There is a lot to do if you want a ‘free education’ no matter which way you try to get it. The point of this piece is to make you conscious of the fact that you do not have to only go down the route of applying for academic grants or even sports grants, things like cheerleading scholarships are also out there.

If you need more information on gettingfinancial aid for college students then you really must go along to our website on applying for scholarships and grants

Retirement may be a long, long way off for you or it could be right around the corner. matter how near or far away it is, you have definitely got to start investing for it right now. However, saving for retirement isn’t what it used to be with the increase in the cost of living and the instability of social security. Nowadays, you have to invest for your retirement, as opposed to saving for it!

Let us commence by looking at the retirement plan, which is offered by the company you work for. Once upon a time, these plans were quite sound. However, after the Enron collapse and all the problems that followed, people aren’t as secure in their company retirement schemes anymore. However, if you decide not to invest in your company’s retirement scheme, you do have other things you can do.

First of all, you can invest in bonds, certificates of deposit, money market accounts, mutual funds and stocks in alphabetical order. You do not have to tell anybody that the returns on these investments are to be used for retirement. Simply let your money grow over a period of time, and when an investment reaches its maturity date or value, reinvest it and continue to let your money grow.

You could also open an Individual Retirement Account (IRA). IRAs are quite popular because the money is not taxed until you withdraw the funds. You may also be able to deduct your IRA contributions from the taxes that you pay. An IRA can be opened at most banks.

A ROTH IRA is a much newer type of retirement vehicle. With a Roth, you pay taxes on the money that you are investing in your ROTH IRA account, but when you cash out, no federal taxes are owed. Roth IRAs can also be opened at most larger financial institutions.

Another popular very type of retirement account is the 401(k). 401(ks) are typically offered through employers, but you may be able to open a 401(k) on your own. You should speak with a financial advisor or an accountant to help you decide whether this is right for you.

The Keogh scheme is another kind of IRA which is more suited to self employed people. Self-employed small business owners may also be interested in Simplified Employee Pension Plans (SEP). This is another sort of Keogh plan that some people typically find easier to administer than a regular Keogh scheme.

Whichever retirement investment you choose, please make sure you do choose one! Again, do not depend on social security, company retirement plans, or even an inheritance that may or may not happen! Take care of your financial future by investing in it today.

If you or someone you know is approaching retirement, just visit our web site at Retirement and Pensions. Also published at Retirement Investment Vehicles.

Charitable institutions exist to help our less fortunate and underprivileged brothers and sisters. Their charitable activities and day-to-day operations depend mostly on the resources and money that they could raise and receive as donations. They receive almost all kinds of donations, including car donations.

The practice of donating cars to charity has been there for quite some time but it was only recently when clear stipulations for car donation tax deduction were stipulated in the tax laws that were enacted in the recent years.

So if you are planning to buy a new car and you want to get rid of your old one, you can choose to donate it to charity rather than putting it up for sale, as selling it could be quite a hassle. Donating your car to a charity that is eligible for accepting car donations can give you a tax deduction in return.

If one donates a car to a charity, one does not only have the chance to avail of a tax write off; one can also help that charity in its mission to help the less fortunate. It is like hitting two birds with a single shot; one can help others while getting something for oneself.

It is very important to ascertain whether a charitable organization is eligible to accept such donations. One can only get a car donation tax deduction if the car is donated to the right charity and if the donor goes through the prescribed process as required by law.

A donor of car donations must ask the IRS for necessary documents to determine and validate the tax exempt status. The eligibility of the receiving charity must also be confirmed before any transaction should take place. If one donates a car to a charity that is not allowed by the authorities to receive such donations, then one will not be eligible for the tax deduction.

And for one to avail of a car donation tax deduction, there is some paper work that needs to be done. There are charities that help with the whole procedure especially by processing the car donations made to them and give their donors tax deductible receipts.

A written acknowledgment from the charity is then needed to be filed together with the donor’s tax returns for one to avail of the car donation tax deductions. And it is highly recommended that one keep pictures and all the necessary documents handy in case questions or problems may arise in the future.

It is always much better to file your taxes when you know you are getting a refund. If you have an old car you are no longer using, consider donating it to get supplemental car donation tax deduction. You can easily find car donations that are helpful to various charity organizations.

I have a few questions for you first of all. Do you like chocolate? Or does it go deeper than that? Do you love chocolate are you what is called a chocoholic? And lastly, was that attitude fashioned by store-bought chocolate such as Mars Bars, Galaxy and Snickers?

I posed all those questions because, if you love chocolate and all you have ever eaten is store-bought chocolate, you have a real surprise waiting for you one day. A really agreeable surprise. One day you will taste gourmet chocolate and it will bowl you over. It will make you lament all those days of your life that you had not known it.

Gourmet chocolate is to a Mars Bar what fillet mignon is to a ham sandwich or what champagne is to cheap plonk. It sounds as if I am running Mars Bars down and I guess I am in a way, but I do believe that they have their position in the hierarchy of the realm of chocolate, it is just not near the top and when you have tasted gourmet chocolate, you will agree with me.

You will see the light and realize that maybe you used to eat store chocolate for the sugar rush and not for the chocolate, because the store variety is actually a very watered down version of the real thing. If you do not believe me, look at the contents list on the back of the wrapper.

Dark chocolate is produced by adding fat and sugar to the cacao mixture. The U.S. Government calls this “sweet chocolate”, and demands a 15% concentration of chocolate liquor. European rules stipulate a minimum of 35% cocoa solids. It does not sound very much, does it? (By the way, chocolate liquor is like lumpy gravy and if you pulverize the lumps and take away most of the fat, you get cocoa solids).

This is why European chocolate has a better name than American chocolate in general, although there are excellent gourmet chocolate manufacturers in the USA (called chocolatiers; like a chef is to haute cuisine)..

Some cheap chocolates are even blended with wax and most bakery chocolate products have very little, if any, real chocolate in them! They contain mostly sugar of one kind or another and “partially hydrogenated palm oil.” On the other hand, gourmet chocolate will echo the quality of the ingredients, which includes high quality cocoa beans, no preserving agents or vegetable fats (other than cocoa butter) and sugar, which is also a preserving agent, should only be used in moderation.

Some chocolate is made from only one variety of bean, just like some wine is made from one kind of gape and some whisky is single malt, but most is made from a blend of several kinds of beans again lust like the cheaper wines and whiskeys. Gourmet chocolate has a far greater percentage of cocoa butter, and will be more extensively refined.

Aficionados of gourmet chocolate are like connoisseurs of fine wines and single malt whiskies, they appreciate the object of their attention. In time, they can talk about the advantages of one bean or process over another. If you want to go down this route, you could join one of the many good gourmet chocolate clubs on the Internet

Dealing with anger is never easy, since people always have to face problems and reasons for conflict but our anger management technique is crucial. We have to deal with price increases, arguments, war, violence, crime, everyday common stupidity and continuous interruptions. There is not one person in this sometimes difficult world that has not gotten angry at some point.

Anger is a feeling that we all have to cope with. But anger comes in many forms: the root of anger is hatred, anxiety or frustration as a result of previous deception or disappointment, comes from bad anger management technique. This is true. However, true or not, even in the Bible it says that when Adam and Eve were created on Earth, the first problem was when the Devil, in the form of a snake, lied, deceiving Eve. Once that lie became apparent, the world began suffering many problems, including violence, murder, war, shortages, disease, weather disasters etc.

Ever since that first lie, the world has become more and more chaotic and continues to worsen as the years roll past. We can look at how a lie can instigate anger by looking at an individual case. A person engaged in criminal activities, such as stealing, writing bad checks, and selling prescription medications. Now this person felt she had to use deception, since she felt that her behaviour and actions were her only means of survival.

So, she started lying to cover up her wrong-doing. As the years went by, she became angry and could not cope, simply as a result of her under-developed anger management technique, the way she was behaving, her way of thinking, and the rest. The person began to act as anyone else suffering from uncontrolled anger would act.

This included, demeaning others, insulting others, verbally and physically assaulting, threatening, belittling and mocking others. The woman was diagnosed with mental disorders, Post traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar. She also had health issues, including diabetes. Now, if we examine all the aspects of that person’s frustration and anger management technique, we see, if we search look enough that her lying, which had caused the paranoia, was the root cause of all her behavioral problems.

These days, so many people have a problem with their anger management technique. Many of the people with post-traumatic stress disorder behave in an angry way because they are reacting to a flashback in memory. Yes! People with post traumatic stress disorder often suppress their negative emotions and when they get in a violent situation or are angered, it is often the result of fighting the sources that caused their trauma in the first place and not the person in their immediate vicinity.

But the problem is that, we do not see this as the reason for the woman’s fury, since she did not make the problem public knowledge. Therefore, people would not think of post traumatic stress disorder as the cause, or at least lessen the possibility of it. So, now let’s examine diabetes, since this illness has an affect on the nerves. The shortage of insulin creates other problems too, but many people with diabetes will become upset for little or no reason whatsoever.

However, most people do not act angrily, assault, insult or attack others . If we look at the reason crimes are committed, we see that very often, serious behavioural problems come from lying. Therefore, when we look at this woman’s case again, we can see that we have to deal with the underlying problems ie to stop her from lying and get her to move forward, avoiding bouts of frustration, anxiety and anger by employing an anger management technique.

Now, the person is in denial, which means that until the legal system makes her take steps in anger management technique, then she probably will not get help herself. In addition, even if the criminal justice system does force her to get help, it probably will not work, since her denial has existed for probably many years. Now we are dealing with a real anger problem, since her behaviour is life long, which means extensive therapy is needed.

Anger is an emotion, but when it interferes with another persons life, it is a serious problem. This person is not hurting only one person, she is hurting everyone, since when she steals or writes bad checks, society pays with tax increases, as well as other increases. One of the biggest problems I have noticed with this type of person, is that the system and society will allow it to continue; only addressing it when the person is caught. Once the person is released then it continues again. This is a chain of events involving lack of control due to anger mis-management and bad anger management technique.

Since many people are considering to donate a car to charity, many are also on the search for the best assistance that they can get to do the procedure correctly. Many times, people who are thinking to give their cars to charity are the ones who may have too many vehicles at home and would like to keep them from becoming junk sitting around in their garage or elsewhere.

But apart from just donating, people would also like to take advantage of the car donation tax deduction that comes with the donation procedures. This will be a great assistance for their taxes once they have filed them properly. And if you like a bigger return this can help with that.

One of the concerns raised by potential donors is whether parking tickets can be a hindrance in donating the car to charity. The answer is that it is still possible to donate your vehicle by doing the several steps listed below.

The procedure will just be the same as transferring cars that don’t have any parking ticket issues. But it is very vital for the donor to choose the best charity where they can donate the vehicle to make sure it is used in the best possible way.

Once you have found the right charity, you can then process the documents. Properly transfer the title of the vehicle to the charity. You should also provide some documents that they would need for documentation or filing purposes.

Third, it is also important for the donor to keep copies of the several documents. The reason for this is that it will be needed once you file your tax return for benefits.

Fourth, you now need to remove the plate number from the car. Doing this will benefit both the donor and the receiver. First of all, it will prevent the new owner from shouldering the parking tickets that the donor has obtained. For the donor, it will also save them from any parking violations that they have incurred. The charity can get another license plate now that they are the new owner of the vehicle.

Lastly, make sure to inform the DMV, or Division of Motor Vehicles, about the transfer of ownership of the car. The donor should also inform the local DMV office in their area. As long as they do this properly, they will be able to donate car to charity and obtain car donation tax deduction from it.

If you have ever thought of the idea to donate car to charity there are many car donation programs that are available. Why not donate your car and you can receive a car donation tax deduction in the process. In the long run this will save you hundreds of dollars.

These days, everyone is extremely conscious of the benefits of eating properly and the consequences of excess. This is one of the reasons why a healthy gift basket is a great idea for a present. Going ‘healthy’ does not mean that the gift basket cannot be enjoyable, individual and beautiful. If your loved one likes nuts, then buy nuts, but unsalted ones in their shells. You see? It only takes a little lateral thinking.

Children may seem hard to please on the topic of healthy gift baskets, because children love sweets and sugar, but there are many healthy snacks, which have a little less sugar. For instance, jam-filled biscuits contain sugar, but they also contain fruit. The same goes for oatmeal raisin cookies.

Toss in a few energy bars from the health food shop made from grains, fruit, honey, raisins and nuts and you may not have cut down on the calories, but you have increased the goodness of the foodstuff. An unusual fruit from the Indian Supermarket, like a passion fruit, a star fruit or a papaya might go down well too and impart extra vitamins.

If you are facing giving a healthy gift basket to a teenager, you may do well to remember that teens worry about their appearance. The get bad skin and spots. So you could prepare a healthy gift basket which included fresh fruit, pimple cream and skin cleanser with rose-scented bath bags for girls, and shaving kits for boys (or vice versa).

If you are giving a healthy gift basket to an elderly person, then bear in mind that many older people often put up with dietary problems and aches and pains, so the older you get, the more you appreciate healthy treats. Gourmet chocolate, fine quality drinking chocolate, bath salts and peppermints would definitely be appreciated. Single leaf tea is also an idea, say, Lapsong Suchong.

If you are thinking about giving a healthy gift basket to your parents, why not? Mum may well appreciate a variety of anti-wrinkle skin creams, cocoa butter or glycerin soap and bath salts. Many shops stock oils beneficial to mature skin. Gourmet chocolate will also be appreciated as will rarer nuts and fruits. Rose water is a good addition too.

And Dad? Well, you know him best. Is he sporty and health orientated or is he into work and recreation? Does he like fishing or golf? Does he enjoy bar-b-queing? Does he like expensive, single malt whisky – the non-guzzling kind? Does he like the occasional beer? If so, you could get him a few foreign beers that he has never tried before. Chocolate liqueurs are usually a firm favourite as well. Stem ginger is a well-liked luxury with those men who are aware of its existence.

Perhaps a few magazines on his favourite subject (no, not Penthouse) or a couple of tickets to a game. A joint basket for Mum and Dad is probably easier and then you can send them to the theatre or/and a restaurant too. A healthy one, naturally.

April 18th, 2010The Origins Of Chocolate

The Theobroma Cacao or ‘the food of the Gods’ is what we all know as the cocoa tree. It’s origin can be traced back to South America’s rain forests, particularly to Central America, although historians are still debating over certain facts with regard to this tree.

It is suggested that the Mayans first grew the cacao tree in 300 AD, although others point to inadequate evidence that it was grown or at least harvested in around 3,000 BC. The Aztecs also used the cacao, but from about 1100 AD.

The chocolate (drink) that we all know today was called ‘xocoatl’. It was a very special beverage that was made out of cacao, chilies, anise seed, vanilla, corn meal and some other spices. It is said that only royalty were permitted to drink it and then only from golden chalices, which were to be used for the purpose only once.

The cacao tree is very responsive to its environment and it most often grows in the shade of the rain forest canopy. If only for this reason alone, chocolate lovers should join forces with the environmentalists to save the rain forests so that the cacaos will survive.

This tree is unusual because its fruits grow directly on its branches and trunk; midges cause the pollination of the flowers during the night time.

The cacao tree is very productive, but not very fruitful. It can have in the region of 10,000 blossoms, but only about 10 to 50 of those will mature into fruits or pods. This is thought to be because the cacao tree can adjust the number of blossoms that will mature according to its ability to handle the energy loss of bearing fruit or pods.

The cacao tree looks after itself in this way to maintain its health. Too many pods might deplete its energy so much that it could not survive a viral or insect attack or too many ripe pods might snap off its branches.

The cocoa beans come within the pod, the fruit of the blossom. Harvesters wait for the pod to ripen. They will then break open the pods and take out the seeds, which are surrounded by a white pulp. This is thrown away these days, but it is thought that many years ago it was fermented into an alcoholic drink for ceremonial purposes. The beans are the source of chocolate, although there is lots to do yet..

The seeds are very bitter at this stage and it is for this reason that they will go through a procedure of fermentation for between three and seven days. This causes the seeds to go through chemical as well as physical changes. The result of this was used for the royal drink, the ‘xocoatl’.

However, to turn it into what we recognize as chocolate, the fermented beans have to go through quite a few more processes. Processes by the name of: drying, cleaning, roasting, grading, opening, separation, grinding and liquefying.

After liquefying, you have unadulterated chocolate in the form of chocolate liquor. This is sold to chocolate manufacturers and the good ones make high-quality chocolate from it and the bad ones adulterate it so much that it is hardly chocolate any more.

Most people use perfume of one kind or another, whether its function is to mask potential body odour or just for fun. When I say ‘fun’, I mean ‘pleasure’ or to attract admirers, whether you intend to do anything about them or not. There are literally thousands of scents to choose from and they are priced from cheap to exorbitantly expensive. So, when there are so many choices, how do you know which ones are suitable for you?

There are a few rules of thumb that you can use as guiding principles to help you choose which is appropriate for you. First of all, you will need to know a little about the basic types of perfume on hand, before you can find out which type of will suit you the best.

So, you can begin by taking a look at the ingredients on the bottle. From these ingredients you can determine what type of fragrance is in the bottle. The basic types of scent are: light musk, natural scent, loud fragrance, floral scent, warm fragrance, bright cheerful scent and a few others.

You should get a small note book and make notes when you test perfumes in various department stores. Perhaps you will find musk too overwhelming for you or perhaps you do not want to smell like a garden flower. It is all very individual and personal. No one can say that you are right or wrong.

One’s body chemistry plays a huge part in why a will smell exquisite on your friend, but not so good on you. It is just a fact, that you cannot go by what smells good on someone else.

Scents that are manufactured from natural substances such as flowers, herbs or spices and even fruit tend to smell warm and soft. Examples of this type or fragrance are rose and lily of the valley. Musk, however, may be made to produce a delicate fragrance that lingers softly around you, but it can be strong and heady too.

You may discover that you like a scent, but that it is just too overpowering for you. If that is the situation, you may be able to get it in Eau de Cologne or Toilet Water, which are weaker in concentration. Other than that, you could use less or dab it on the underside of your clothing where it might not be subject to so much body heat and so will not evaporate quite so quickly.

If you go about selecting the right perfume for yourself methodically, it could take quite some time to come across something that is ‘Essence De You’, but it is well worth it. What is a year, when you can wear the perfume for forty years? This is why I recommended getting a little note pad to keep in your bag before doing the rounds of the free trial counters in the department stores.

The salesgirls won’t mind, they will be pleased to show off their knowledge and be pleased that someone is taking a real interest in their merchandise. Then, once you have one, you could begin all over again, if you enjoyed finding the first perfume, but next time you will have a notebook full of pointers.

March 7th, 2010Low-Cost Wedding Favours

If you are holding a large wedding, that is one with many guests, the cost of wedding favours can be quite considerable, if you do not set a strict budget. One immediate method you could use to cut the cost of your wedding favours is to give one to each couple or single, rather than one to everybody who comes. The first decision to make is how much can you afford in total and then divide that by the number of guests in total and then divide it by the number of couples and singles.

This method will make it easier for you to decide what you are going to do: get for everybody; buy for couples and singles and save the rest for something else or give to couples and singles but buy more elaborate presents. If you still find that there is not a lot of money to go around, you will need to look for inexpensive wedding favours. I will offer you a few thoughts below to get you going.

Candles can be very successful, low-cost wedding favours. If you buy in bulk, you can get some really lovely candles at very reasonable prices. You could get perfumed candles, maybe with the same smell as the bouquet the bride carried. You could also consider buying personalized ribbons to tie attractive bows around the candles and the ribbons could have your names and the wedding date on them.

Candy or chocolate is another kind of inexpensive wedding favour. There are many ways to go down this route. You can have the wrappers of popular candy bars custom-made; you could buy fairly expensive chocolate in bulk and wrap it up in a special way yourself or you could buy small boxes of gourmet chocolate.

Giving packets of flower or vegetable seeds is also an inexpensive way of giving a useful wedding favour. Again, you could give seed packets of the flowers in the bride’s bouquet. The seed packets could be wrapped or boxed with your own special logo, names and wedding date. You could present them in a pot or tray too in order to make it even easier to sow the seeds.

A pen or pen and pencil set is also a reasonably economical way of giving wedding favours. These pens can also display your wedding details such as names and date.

However, I am Welsh and so my favourite wedding favours are love spoons in miniature, say four inches long. Love spoons were given in Wales by a suitor to his beloved for hundreds of years and many love spoon makers will make mini versions by hand for a small amount of money. These love spoon wedding favours can also be inscribed with the wedding details as they are typically made out of wood.

Another lovely touch is to insert a stamped, self addressed envelope to your wedding favour present, with a short note asking the recipient to get in touch with you soon, so that you do not let too much water go under the bridge.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with Welsh love spoons, and Wales in general, please go to our website at Welsh Products Online, if you are too.

If you and your partner are interested in a romantic break, you may have a hard time deciding on a location because there is such a large number of break destinations to choose from. However, I would like to suggest St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands, which lies in the Caribbean.

St. Thomas is well-known for its romantic holidays. Hundreds of thousands of couples have been vacationing in St. Thomas in order to get pleasure from an exclusive, intimate, and romantic break. If you are asking yourself why St. Thomas is such as wonderful place for romantic breaks, you ought to read more about St. Thomas on their official Internet web site.

The Caribbean, in general, is well known for its magnificent, tropical weather and this sort of environment is many couples’ ideal romantic vacation spot. The lovely weather means unmatched opportunities for swimming and other beach activities. If seeing all the good-looking people in their bathing costumes does not turn you on then nothing will!.

However, do not think that St. Thomas is only intended for younger people. It caters very well for people of all age groups, although some resorts are ‘adults only’. So, if you will have to check up on any age restrictions on some of the private beaches. Some may be Club 18-30, others may not admit under 18 year olds.

The ‘adults only’ resorts in St. Thomas are perfect for romantic holidays. The hotel rooms in these resorts are also of a higher class. Many of them have ocean views and large in room baths or jacuzzis. If you can get hold of one these rooms, you may not even care to go outside.

However, if you do want to go outside, many of St. Thomas’ beach resorts offer exceptional opportunities for all varieties of water sports like boat trips, snorkeling and assisted scuba diving tours. If you are not water-orientated or you want to try something on land then there is horseback riding too. Horse riding along the shoreline is very popular. Many resorts have their own specialist activities, so when you reserve your holiday, make sure you check out what is accessible to you in that district.

There are abundant opportunities for shopping and sight-seeing on your own too. You could hire a car and journey up the coast or inland to one of the national parks, where you may see wildlife or find a secluded restaurant serving delicious local food.

Last, but definitely not least, in the list of romantic things to do in St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands is to get wed. There are fewer restrictions on marriage for American couples than on mainland America. The only observances are a $50 fee and an eight day posting of bans to declare your intention to wed. You can get married at almost any time of the day or night. So, a sunset wedding on the beach is easily workable and is, in fact, one of the most popular romantic reasons for young couples coming to St. Thomas.

March 1st, 2010Dating for Single Dads

Can a single Dad be a good father? Sure he can! But maybe a single man should also ask What’s your problem? Just because you’re not divorced, doesn’t mean that you’re a better father. It’s really such a pity that our society considers someone as a dead loss parent just because he’s no longer married. There are a lot of great single fathers out there and you can learn a lot from them.

Realizing the Situation… You have got to understand that children suffer greatly from having only one parent. It could be because they had angry parents, or because of separation anxiety or any number of things: it’s tough for children whose parents are divorced, getting divorced, or who are single.

Appearing to carry on as normal for the children need sacrifice. Usually, both mother and father have to be able to set aside their differences long enough to inspect the damage that they have both caused to their children. More often than not though, parents get so engrossed with their emotional grief, that they fail to notice that their children are suffering even more than they are.

If you are a single parent this is even more difficult. Dating for Dads and dating for mothers is the answer – don’t rush into things, but children need two parents and when you’re ready, you should get another partner.

Investigations show that when both parents make a deliberate effort to stay friendly to each other, then they will have more successful and stable children. What else do you need to know? Kids need a parent of each sex. Never think that dating for single dads or single mother is out of the question. In fact, it is important for the children. But you knew that already, didn’t you?

Case Study: To make clear the importance of a father’s closeness to his children more obvious, it should be stated that the State University of Arizona conducted a study of college students who had only one parent. The researchers observed personality, emotional and mental maturity, health, and even interest in school and success. The researchers found evidence that supports the idea that whichever parent had primary custody, it is certain that children need access to adults of both sexes. Widow(er)s need to get back into society for the sake of their children and the, selves.

Results: The findings are very surprising. statistics quite clearly show that kids who have only one parent have healthier and more mature relationships than their parents and make a conscious effort of keeping their family together.

61% of the kids involved in the study asserted that their mum or whoever had primary custody, moved them at least an hours drive away from the other parent. One of the concerns expressed by the students was getting in the crossfire. When they stay with one parent, future financial help (like for college) lessened. Example, if they stayed with dad, mom gives less when college comes, and vice versa. In fact, the investigation showed that the 1 hour driving distance already had a negative effect on the children.

Emotional upheaval cannot really be prevented, but a closer inspection of the children showed that those whose parents stayed close to them had a better emotional disposition and a better mentally.

Summary: All in all, the case study shows that divorce does affect children. The way the parents treat each other and the distance they live from their children does have a significant impact that could determine whether the child succeeds or not. It is difficult to make friends with an ex-wife after all that has been said and done, but it will be more difficult for you as a divorced dad, when in the future, you see your children suffer the consequences of your actions.

As a divorced father, it is it is up to you. You owe it to yourself and to your children to make first step to remaining close.

February 24th, 2010Anger Management Movies

It is because anger management is a huge problem in society today, there have been many programs developed, books written, Internet websites created and anger management movies filmed. Although all of this help is in place and available for anyone, not all people with anger issues benefit from the same type of resource. For some people attending an anger management program may be effective and cause major changes in their behaviour.

Being able to steal away alone with a book may be helpful to a person with anger issues. Seeing their problems in print and being able to sort through them in their mind might be a great anger management resource. The Internet is a great resource regarding anger management and some may find it helpful to view the different sites and read stories about individuals with anger management issues. However for many people who have difficulties controlling their anger, watching an anger management movie might be what it takes to break them out of their pattern of angry, emotional outbursts.

Watching an anger management film would allow the individual the chance to actually see, with their own eyes and hear with their own ears, just what anger does to a person and those around them. An anger management movie would likely provide illustrations and situations where individuals act on their anger. The movie may apply exactly to an individual’s current circumstance. It may hit home – so to speak. Watching the actors play out their life story and their behaviour may be an eye-opener. It may take watching a husband abuse a child or wife, a mother attacking her kid, a child bullying another child, to realize that anger is a significant problem.

When an angry person is in that situation- ie really angry, he is likely to blame it on whoever gets in the way. But being an actor in his own picture, he is incapable of watching his own performance. However, if they given the chance to see it on the silver screen, he might be surprised and even devastated by his actions. Watching an anger management film would probably be like watching yourself in a similar situation. This may be the method that works best for some people.

An anger management movie will not only give illustrations of the actual situations involving anger. The movie will likely provide information regarding anger management techniques. Using these techniques and the characters in the movie, it is likely that there would be scenes of people being introduced to anger management techniques and programmes.

The film would explain the steps to dealing with anger and frustration issues. This type of anger management movie might be the answer to many people’s afflictions. It would seem a good idea if the anger management movie showed the person, in the same situation as the sufferer, change from the first scene in the film to the last scene. Showing how the individual was able to receive help through anger management and turn his life around, may just be the incentive he needed.

No doubt, there are all sorts of anger management film available. The Internet is a great source of information regarding anger management and anger management resources such as books and anger management movies. If you think you or someone you know would benefit from watching an anger management movie, it would be a wise idea to get your hands on one.

A song can tell you a lot about life, the person who wrote it, the person who sings it and the person who likes to listen to it.. Songs belong to different genres. Have you ever come across a genre which is immortal? If you did would it be about love or hatred? Of course, everybody would declare that ‘love’ is the most discussed, written and sung about by people of all races and nationalities. So, it is no surprise then to find out what makes a date worth cherishing?

Music almost always has something to do with it and music could actually fashion the atmosphere of your date. Dating is such a great way of selecting your future lifetime partner. When you are out on a date, see to it that the music is well-selected and that it creates a mood of romance.

People have composed all styles of songs, but the ones they write the best are love songs. Since the day the first love song was sung, people’s hearts have been melting. Songs of finding a new love, losing love, songs of inspiration, songs of moving on, songs about romance, first loves and the gush of emotions.

With all due respect to all the artists concerned and their fans too, here are some of the most popular songs of Romance. They demonstrate the feelings of two people in love during a very romantic date:

Truly, Madly, Deeply: (Savage Garden) – this duo’s song speaks of a deep love and promises made to the other person.

I’d be your dream I’d be your wish I’d be your fantasy I’d be your hope, be your love Be everything that you need

This I Promise You: (N-Sync) – this group filled the airwaves with love. This song is really a promise of a lifetime’s commitment. It is often used as a wedding song.

And I will take you in my arms And hold you right where you belong Until the day my life is through This I promise you

Iris: (Goo Goo Dolls) – it gained popularity not only because of the movie in which it featured, but because the song touches the heart.

And I don’t want the world to see me Cause I don’t think that they’d understand When everything’s made to be broken – I just want you to know who I am.

Dreaming of You: (Selina) – the singer died tragically, but the song lives on. It is a light song, but it goes straight to the heart.

I’m dreaming of you tonight ‘Til tomorrow And for all of my life And there’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be.

Songs will always be a big part of courtship and that usually starts with a date. Music is the food of love and music is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. Generations always have, and generations always will, continue to keep the tradition going. Music not only induces love and romance, but it also keeps love and romance alive.

Almost everyone has a liking for chocolate, even if they would rather deny it. But some of us have a craze for it and if you tried gourmet chocolate, this would turn into a devotion. The feel of its texture in your mouth as it melts is very pleasing and its richness takes this enjoyment to a whole new level. Some people even say that they prefer chocolate over everything else.

Although chocolate is delicious, some chocolates are more enjoyable than others. A Snickers bar is full of chocolate but it is also stuffed with peanuts and caramel and the chocolate is not so great anyway. Thankfully, there are gourmet chocolates available to gratify any chocolate lover’s chocolate desire.

There are enough different cacao inspired appetizing treats out there to satisfy almost everyone. There are kinds of chocolate that some people almost certainly never have thought possible. Chocolates now even come in a chocolate-wine mixture to act as a decadent sauce to a dessert.

Examples of the flavours you can get are: chocolate espresso merlot and chocolate raspberry cabernet. Many pure chocolate and wine lovers knew that wine and chocolate went well together, but would not have thought of mixing them in a sauce. However, when they are poured over ice-cream, they are a pure delight to the taste buds.

Chocolates called truffles of all kinds are also obtainable for those with an extra sweet tooth, whether you love dark, milk or white chocolate. There are also boxes of chocolate to suit everybody’s needs. They contain a wide variety of different gourmet chocolates. Some people really like coffee filled chocolates or cherry filled chocolates.

There are selection boxes of chocolates too which offer one or two of all the kinds of gourmet chocolates that that firm has to offer. Some of the combinations you will have heard of, others you will not. A selection box like this is a relatively less expensive way of getting to know a manufacturer’s products.

If you just would like an normal bar of gourmet chocolate, then those are available too from select suppliers. It is best to look online or in Yellow Pages. I have seen dark, milk and white chocolate bars presented, but I prefer the individual bonbons, although a bar is easier to carry in your bag and it is the same high-quality chocolate, but without a filling..

These small, but delectable gourmet chocolates make ideal, romantic gifts for your Valenrine too. Also, if you know a chocolate lover, then they will seriously be grateful for the complex taste of these gourmet delights. They will know that you have spent your time and money getting them the only gift they actually wanted.

Online stores that sell these delicious treats often also have gift certificates available, so if you cannot pick the perfect gourmet chocolates you can definitely let them do it for themselves with your voucher.

It is a fact that a lot of men become extremely stressed out when the time comes to go looking for a Valentine’s Day gift for their girlfriends. This is usually because they are concerned about choosing an inappropriate present. They are worried about giving a present that will be misinterpreted for the present phase of the relationship.

If they have just started dating their girlfriend, they may worry that an expensive present may be inappropriate, but at the same time, do not want to risk giving a present that will make their girlfriend think that they are stingy.

This dilemma makes getting a present for your girlfriend for St. Valentine’s Day a difficult task. I will endeavor to give a few essential pointers below to help you get started selecting a fitting present for your girlfriend for St. Valentine’s Day.

The first thing you need to do when attempting to settle on a Valentine?s Day present for your girlfriend is to mull over what stage of the relationship you are currently in. This is very important because it will dictate which type of gift you can give to your girlfriend. If you and your girlfriend have been going out with each other for a long time and you are quite certain that you are both committed to each other, you can contemplate an extravagant present.

However, if you have only been going out for a short time and you are not sure where the relationship is heading, you might want to consider a less elaborate present. There are no two ways about it, you have to weigh up your relationship, but you must also bear in mind that she might not reason the same way as you.

You may believe that everything is going well and that the two of you are strongly committed, but she may feel as though the relationship is going nowhere. If you are having difficulties working out where you both stand, talk to your girlfriend about it. She will like that anyway and it will help to assure the two of you that you feel the same way about each other.

Flowers are the old stand-by and are an ideal gift for a man to give his girlfriend on St. Valentine’s Day, whether it is a new relationship or not. It is also such an easy gift because it is so widely associated with Valentine’s Day that it is not liable to misinterpretation. A present of a dozen red roses is considered a romantic gift but it is also familiar enough that your girlfriend is not likely to read too much into it.

However, there is a common blunder associated with roses on Valentine’s Day. For example, your girlfriend may be upset and saddened by a present of yellow roses because yellow roses are usually meant to symbolize friendship and not romantic love, so speak to the florist.

Jewelry is an apt gift to give to your girlfriend on Valentine’s Day so long as the cost and type of the present is proportionate to the current phase of your relationship. This is not so complicated, it is black and white really. Ask yourself the question: ‘Is she worth $100?’.

However, a good middle of the road, romantic gift would be a box of expensive gourmet chocolates. It shows that you care enough to have sought out such a rare present, to have spent more than a few dollars and that you think she is sophisticated enough to appreciate them. She will love them, even if she is on a diet.
